Quick COVID-19 Note
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Bellefield’s High School Hang Out (HSHO) is on an indefinite hiatus.
Please continue to check back here or join our email/texting lists for our most up-to-date information.
We look forward to hosting HSHO soon!! We hope to resume once Pittsburgh Public Schools (especially our next-door neighbors at SciTech) reopen for in-person classes.
About High School Hang Out
High School Hang Out (formerly Wednesday Hang Out) started when a couple of students who attended both Bellefield’s neighboring Pittsburgh Public School, SciTech, and BYG’s partner youth group, Church of the Ascension Youth Group (CAYG), asked if they and their friends could come in and hang out in Bellefield Church’s youth space on Wednesday afternoons. At the time (pre-pandemic), SciTech rang their final bell at 1:45PM on Wednesdays, giving their students a half-day off very week.
In response, Bellefield decided to open its doors to any and all High School students on Wednesday afternoons. Just by word-of-mouth, HSHO grew from those initial 2 students, to 10, to 30 students in its first year, and from 30 to 80+ students weekly the next year!
Our goal for HSHO is to demonstrate the love of Christ for all people. To that end, we strive to provide our local high school students with a safe space to come, hang out with friends, do homework, play games, and eat together every week. All students from any religious or non-religious backgrounds, all races and ethnicities, and all sexual orientations are welcome. Come as you are, we’re happy you’re here and greet you in Jesus’ name!
We also take seriously our Lord Jesus’ command to “feed my sheep” (John 21:15-17) by providing our HSHO students with a hearty snack – usually pizza – every week!
