About BYG’s D-Groups
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”Lk 9:23-24 ESV
As Christians, we are all called to a life of discipleship, following after our Lord Jesus Christ. Discipleship encompasses all of our lives, and definitely is not limited to BYG’s Discipleship Groups (D-Groups) by any means!
BYG’s D-Groups, though, are a wonderful opportunity for us to walk the path of discipleship together. Our D-Groups provide the space to worship, think, and pray together, as well as encourage and build up one another in love and in truth.
What does this look like at BYG?
D-Groups are available to our older students (8th grade/13 years old and up).
Groups of 3-5 students and leaders will meet together for an hour twice a month to pray, check in and connect, think, listen, and pray together. (Yes, prayer is listed twice.) During this treacherous pandemic, meetings will take place via Zoom, although we will be looking forward to the day we can again meet in person.
While all of our older students are welcome, joining a Discipleship Group involves a serious commitment from our students and their families in terms of time and attention. Students are expected to be present and prepared for D-Group meetings. Meeting dates for each group will be communicated in advance – please mark your calendars now.
We have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.Col 1:9-10 ESV
